oN A rOaD

Were on a road
to nowhere...la la la
no actually
I'm just so grateful
for my friends
the angels
that I sometimes
forget are there
it's been so good
to have had them
the last few days
when my road was
obliviated by the idiocy
of another.
Thank you kind angels
my health will return
as will my heart.
love you.

Some people just behave
in very weird ways.

this sometimes
interferes with our happiness,

but only if we let it.

And then maybe there

is another side to their

life that we just don't see.

And maybe, most likely

they don't see it either!!!

check out this link to see what I mean...

ya gotta love others.

mAgiC

Today I would like to be in this building
(the Chrysler Building, NYC)
to look out at all the twinkling lights
(it's my fav)
the city vibe
(professional people)
the energy
(dreams)
the possibilities...
(hold on)
Today my day sucked
(soul drain)
trying to fly like an eagle
(walking the walk)
lately surrounded by turkeys.
(gobble gobble)
There's a major karmic shift
(swirl)
rumbling
(bump bump)
and I'm almost done with this...
(whosh)
One day...
(freedom)
I'm grateful for my angels
(love)
and puzzled by those I
(love betrayed)
thought were friends.
(truth)
Grateful for the wisdom
(owl)
to know
(who who)
the difference.
(b & w)
Love those that you like
(hold them tight)
and try to love
(really try to love)
the rest.
Thank you universe.
Namaste

FuR rOsEs

These are roses made out of fur
I didn't make 'em
but they're cool
beautiful
I saw 'em at
Grand Central Station
NYC
at a Christmas Sale.
I have a box of recycled fur...
hmmm.
They're wintery.
I started putting away
my winter clothes today
and taking out my spring & summer
clothes.
How nice, it's still May.
Last year I didn't get my winter stuff put away
till July.
A sign of better things to come?
I hope 'cause I had one heck
of a lousy day today.
You know one of those days when
the jerks seem to be around you.
I was good. I got away from them!!
whew.

sometime opposites attract

love can come
in some pretty
weird desguises!
I found MiSS PiGGy
in a ditch
and my brother
fished it out for me
when we were on
a walk.

This is the side of my yard...or should I say this is what the side of my yard USED TO look like!!
OMG, it looks completely different now!
I'm a landscape architect!
Who knew!
Yikes!
What a LoT of WORK
I am ready to get over a ToN
of reclaimed concrete
curb and cutter,
to be used for
benches,
lifted onto a prepared
raised area
(the high area)
that has been carefully
carved ito
the slope.
There are new gardens
and there will be
a crazy patch patio
of reclamed concrete
sidewalk.
And there's a view of
the snow capped
Mt. Arrowsmith.
: )
(the concrete saga continues!!)

oNe BluE eYe

I made this funny face with the last of some cement I was pouring one day...
I don't know why I love concrete
but I do
My stepfather had a cement mixer
I think I was fascinated by it
but he never used it
and I never learned anything about it
Right now I am cooking up a project
in my gardens
and it involves about a ton
of concrete
as soon as I can upload some pics
I will post more on the
concrete story
: )

Take some plastic mesh onion bags...
tear some leftover fabric from a prom dress into strips...

find the hole you ripped to get the onion out...
thread some beads on some crochet cotton...
crochet a design with beads
inside the hole to look like a spider's web
or an ankh cross...
thread a length of the torn fabric strips into a bodkin
and stitch around the hole with it...

thread lengths of torn fabric strips into a bodkin...

many times...

and weave and stitch through the mesh...

until you have something you like...

then love it.

I know this pic is outa focus, but unfortunately it was sent off in trade somewhere in the wild world, and I didn't get a better pic of it...
These ATC cards are more of the Womyn's Work series I did:
The serpant symbolism is considered to be associated with fertility.
I don't know why it resonated with me to use the snake for this series,
but I found the little plastic snake,
and I liked it with the text, and within the series.
For me, it worked.
This card below is about the pain a woman feels
when she cannot have babies.

I am so grateful for my baby.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday!
: )
I had two guys come over for 4 hours in the morning and we move a
TON of reclaimed broken concrete
that I am going to use to make planters and patios in my yard.
I was soooo happy to get in moved out of the entrance to my backyard!!
I received many little gifts and a homemade card with hearts from my son,
and I went out to lunch and out to dinner,
AND got to go to a home show.
Then I got to watch the third installment of the Cranford on PBS.
I was asleep by 11:15.
WOW!
gotta love it.

WoMyn'S WoRk

I made these cards for an Artist Trading Cards show as part of
Mayworks Celebration two years ago.
My theme was womyn's work.
Domestic work.
The work of keeping oneself looking "beautiful", the work of cleaning and sewing in the home, etc.
I cut up books for the first time in my life.
Boy, it was hard at first!
For he card above I used text from an Erma Bombeck humour book, I think, and pics from various magazines.

This card shows two womyn. One is sweeping, and the other is scrubbing the floor.

I included a label from a garment that said "laundry" and a piece of lace in the shape of a heart for LOVE, and an X out of red beads for KISSES.

The LOVE & KISSES are for the womyn.
I used the spelling of womyn without the MAN in it in honour of women, while being cognizant of the fact that... well, let's just put it this way, it's a feminist act.
Now men, you don't have to be offended because if you love womyn and want the best for them, then you are a feminist too. : )
Peace be blessed ones.

FeeD tHe SoUL

i guess i'm on a food theme. Well I love good, healthy food. My mama was a health food nut, and she wasn't even a hippie. ; o ) Rare for the sixties...
I eat organic food whenever possible, and this year I hope to be growing some of my own food in my garden. I am digging and digging... the plants I have already growing to go in the garden are: chives, kale, marjarom, sage, lavendar (yes, you can eat it : ), tomatoes, mint, spinach, leeks. I have purchased some asparagus roots and I want to get some artichoke.
I also have TONS of perrenials that I have been collecting/propagating for years. It's fun.

I love my home.

I made this breakfast for my lovely little son. It could have been Valentine's Day, but it wasn't. IT was completely OUT OF THE BLUE. I was inspired to make something special for him, and then wake him up and surprise him. : ) I think he had to be somewhere that morning, so I made a hearty breakfast. mAn I love him!!

cReAtiOn-cinco de mayo

this is my first post on this new blog...

I am going to try to create something everyday.

It may be fibre-ish or it may be something else artistic- even food.

Sometimes I love the food I create.

Anyway, I want to focus on my creativity.

Recently, I was writing to someone, and I wrote "creativity is my life".

I had to think about that for a while.

The meaning of it runs deep with me, the roots of my creativity, and the encouragement of it began when I was a child.

Interestingly, it was something my mother really pointed out to me- that it was a strength of mine.

Funny, it only took me 40 years to realize it! : )

Funny how life works, and how things come around to be relevant to our consciousness.
I made this cake for my friend Arthur's 88th birthday.
